CrankPal sensors

How to register in the CRM the CrankPal sensors you sell in your shop, what customers see when they activate them, and what you see afterwards.

If you sell CrankPal sensors, register them in the CRM before you hand them over. When the customer activates the sensor at home with the app, they see your workshop's logo and "Sold by" with your name; if your workshop isn't among theirs yet, the app offers to add it. From then on you see their profile and their bike, and they can message you from the app.

The feature is available on every plan and needs the manage_inventory permission, which owners, managers and mechanics have by default.

Registering sensors#

Open CustomersCrankPal sensors; with the interface in simple mode, the item is under Discover more. In the box, type or paste the serial numbers, one per line: upper and lower case, dashes and spaces are all fine, and so is the content of the QR code printed on the label. Then press Register. You can register up to 200 at a time.

Below the box you get the result for every line:

  • Added: the sensor now shows as sold by you.
  • Already in your list: you had already registered it, nothing changes.
  • Not added: the sensor didn't go into your list, and the reason is shown next to it.

When a sensor isn't added#

There are three reasons.

  • Another workshop registered it before you. The first registration counts. For confidentiality the page doesn't tell you which workshop: if you really did sell that sensor, contact support.
  • A customer has already activated it. The sale is registered before handover: once activated, the sensor already has an owner and can't be added any more.
  • The line doesn't contain a valid serial number. The line stays in the box: fix it and press Register again.

A serial number that's wrong but valid does no harm: it is 16 characters long and unique to each sensor, so a typo stays in your list without touching anyone else's sensor. Remove it and register the right one.

What the customer sees#

At the end of the sensor setup, the app shows your logo and "Sold by" with your workshop's name. If you aren't among their workshops yet, they get an Add to my workshops button: adding you is always their choice, and it never happens on its own.

Only whoever activates the sensor first sees it. If the sensor passes to someone else, for example together with the bike, the new owner doesn't see it.

What you see#

The list shows every sensor you registered, who registered it and when, and whether it has been activated. Who activated it, on which bike and on what day you only see after the customer has added you to their workshops: before that consent, you only know the sensor is in use.

A sensor that hasn't been activated yet can be removed from the list with Remove. After activation it can no longer be removed: the sale is a fact.

Common problems#

The customer didn't see my workshop in the app

This happens if the sensor was activated before you registered it, or if someone else activated it first. In the first case, if you try to register it now, the page answers Not added because it's already activated. The customer can always add you from the app: see Workshops and bookings.

The customer sees my workshop's name but not the logo

The app shows the logo only if you uploaded it in the workshop profile: see Workshop profile.
